Nothing like a 2.5 hour lunch with a good friend to start the day! Thanks Lea Kuhlmann!
Shortly thereafter I had to get home, make up the guest bedroom for our touring troubadour friend Stoll Vaughan who would be making his now semi-regular stop at the Muse tonight. Only difference is that he persuaded Dana during his last visit to practice playing and singing a couple of her favorite songs to open the show for him, and he was serious! So....a few times in the last 6 months she practiced here and there, but then this week it was crunch time. Stoll stopped over early to visit for a while, get Dana practicing and, as much as possible, more comfortable. They rehearsed a couple of Jewel songs and one of her other favorites, the name of which escapes me now. We got grandma and arrived at the Muse around 7:45 or so, then there was an instrumental classical guitarist opening up the set first. Dana was quite nervous, but she went and practiced a little bit. Stoll took the stage and after a few songs and some very nice comments and accolades about his Charlotte hosts, once again, he invited Dana to the stage. She said a few cute things into the mic, and then played guitar while singing! We were SO nervous for her, too, but So very proud. She made it through just fine, and everyone learned what a beautiful voice she truly does have. Next, Stoll took the guitar and let her just sing a favorite Jewel song. Her voice sounded even better now! I loved hearing all the compliments and watching all the very kind patrons come up and say very nice things to her. Way to go Dana!
