K, Dave, Zac & Pat arrived at the house around 4 pm. After relaxing for a bit they decided to run up to the NoDa area and try and schmooze, pass out postcards and drum up some interest for tonight's show. Those guys do work hard at promoting and marketing themselves..one reason is because they know they do have something to offer a music fan, if only you'll come out to see them. But, they've gained some exposure through their songs being played regularly on XM and added to a variety of Video Games (Guitar Hero won't be far behind, I'm sure.)
We made them a nice home-cooked meal when they returned, then just sat and chilled and talked for a while, while they were still all on their laptops and catching up online. All the while "threatening" to watch the first episode of "Lost" with me I taped and kept on the DVR just for them. Time got away from us too quickly so we agreed to watch it after the show. Well..that never happened either..for reasons I'll not go into :-).
The boys have some regular fans in the area by way of Johnny, Sarah, Erin and the bunch that also enjoy a good Jukebox the Ghost. They make every show they come to that much more eventful. It was wonderful hearing J-One live again..wow they rock that stage! They are so tight together, each individual having their own part to play, and play extremely well, yet bringing it smoothly together to make for one musical unit. Kind of like a mini rock orchestra. I suppose watching K tear up that violin helps in that description. All too soon, the set was over, but the night, as always, was just beginning...
Everyone wanted to hang out with them so we took our happy selves over to the Sanctuary for the late-night beverage...and flirty socializing. All the people I talked with or met or said hi to were so warm, jovial and extremely affection. It seems like now that the holidays were behind us, and we have a new leader in office, people are a bit more relaxed. Whatever it was, I'll take it in heavy doses any day of the week.
We came home, fixed some mini-tacos & burritos for the guys, talked a while longer until my body said time for bed. The next morning we made a huge breakfast for us all, re-met our daughter's California boyfriend who's visiting for the weekend, had a lot of laughs between him and the J-One boys who were acting like her older brothers, interrogating the poor kid. Then again, back to work. K, Zac, Dave & Pat had to head on to their next stop to start the pre-show schmoozing all over again. No Lost for us, I'm afraid. I hope they had 200 people at their show because if it though!
Monty Chandler wrote a review of the show and took, as always, some amazing photos. Check it all out at http://theeveningmusephotos.blogspot.com/
