..We
haven't had such a filled evening like this in a while! First Charlotte
DudeFest 2010 planning meeting. Watch for this festival/benefit coming
up in NoDa in June. Rebecca Loebe asked if she could stay the night
with us after her show at the Muse and of course we welcomed her.
Desmond Myers was GREAT at the Muse. Watch out for this one..I can't
wait for his new CD. It's leaning in a more jazz-pop area which I
love.
Frank Bloom/Thunderdrums back in town at the Double Door and it was really good to see him. He had a lot of electronic/techno/recorded gadgets going..perfect for a festival atmosphere and I'd see how he'd be popular in Asheville. We, however, were really excited to watch him play those drums again. He's got some major talent and we miss seeing him play with a band. That One Guy...truly an amazing site to behold! I'm SO glad it worked out we could see some of his set. We had a blast and finally got to see what all the buzz is about. Can't wait to see him again. Unfortunately we had to leave early to get back and pick up a sleepy Rebecca, but by that time we were ready to get going ourselves.
But first, a quick stop into the N. Theatre to see a band we've never experienced live before.. Drive By Truckers! Whoa! While I bet it was a fantastic show, we could hardly get in or see much of it in the sold out room. Everyone was having a grand old time though, and I could see why. We'll catch them sometime..just not this time.
