Stopped in
to the Double Door to catch up with LESLIE and meet them for dinner at
Oodles of Noodles or Lots of Noodles..one of those places lol. We
couldn't make all their show as we had already made plans months ago to
see Matt Urmy again at the Muse but..luckily we got to hear at least a
couple of songs and Wow they sounded SO good in the Double Door! Can't
wait to hear them there again..or on a big stage like the Visulite.
They just need that space to really rock.
We got to the Muse in time to see that it was a full house, and Matt Urmy was taking the stage after we got to say our hellos. Unfortunately, the very noisy crowd was there to see the later bands, and most did not give any respect to the musician on stage. Sometimes people can be so rude and just...naive. Anyway, I told Don it was like swimming upstream for Matt. But for the fans who WERE there to see and hear him, we loved every minute and he was as gracious and sweet as he's always been. One of those gentle spirits you like to be around and hope that it rubs off and sticks on you as well. I invited him again, as I always do, to spend the night at our house. This time, for the first time, the Nashville artist said yes! Yay! The night was already getting better.
Sons of Bill then proceeded to blow us totally away!! I was SO happy as I wasn't sure how they'd come across live. I've really liked lead guitarist and vocalist Sam's voice on his solo material a whole lot, but unfortunately I missed him doing one solo. That was quite alright, though, because I really loved the whole set and can not wait to see them again!
Same with American Aquarium! As we said before, we were so taken with this band the last time we saw them and they pretty much have us as fans for life.
Excellent night. We stayed up with Matt until the very wee hours in the morning (I finally crashed at 4 - Don & Matt at 5) and talked about our mutual musical friends and interests. It was fascinating and we could've talked to him so much longer. It was pretty special. BUT..he had to get up at 9 am to drive to see his Mom for Mother's Day so it was a quick good morning and goodbye the next day. Until next time.
What a special night.
