I was looking forward to a quiet evening at home after another busy weekend, but got easily coerced into us attending the Kathleen Edwards show w/Joe & Lea Kuhlmann. Good decision. Loved the show, her performance, her realism, her band and of course those great songs! I was quite surprised to find myself moved to tears, even, by a couple of them. But for the most part I hung on every word as she is a pretty amazing songwriter. Even though I've seen her twice before (once at the Evening Muse (!) a few year's back opening for Richard Buckner and then next time opening for My Morning Jacket (!), this show was my favorite out of all of them, and I actually was able to sit and listen and absorb more intently than ever before. Somebody has been trying to tell me how great she was, I just didn't realize until tonight. From this show we stopped in to the Double Door to join fellow Charles Hairston fans and friends in paying our respects to the local legend whom we'd lost earlier in the day. As anticipated, the room was packed, with various musicians taking the stage and baring their musical souls as Charles did every week, and friends swapping stories. A memorial service/concert will take place on Mar. 8th @ The Neighborhood Theatre. Join us, won't you?
