What an outstanding night of free music. These Gallery Crawls are becoming some of the best nights out for a variety of sounds.
We had to meet up with some friends so we didn't make everything we had planned for this show-filled night, unfortunately. So we all opted to just hang around in the NoDa area for the evening.
I know this is taking the easy way out for me, but let's just say that each of the artists above, (unfortunately I only caught a few moments of Tom O'Connor), were just great in their own way. We've been enjoying Kev Rowe's CDs for years now, but this was my first time finally seeing him live. He sounded so much like Paul Simon to us in many of his songs (which is not a bad thing). Uncle Mountain was totally foreign to us, but we were SO pleasantly surprised by this Asheville band, and will be back to see them a LOT. The Fustics have been one of our try-to-see bands every time they come to town, and The Superficials finally grabbed me tonight. I will admit it took me longer than everyone else to embrace these guys, but now I totally get it and I couldn't have been happier I stuck around the whole night to see this show through to the end. Fantastic one and all.
